Include Sports Games for Parties and Events to Enhance the Fun

Article by Marty Party

Sports Games are FunChildren love to play, and playing sports is almost a sure-fire way to have everybody cheering for more. The following is a short list of games that can be played to increase the fun of any party.Remember, in addition to the ideas below, there are always the classics, such as basketball, soccer, and touch football. You can use a big large piece of white poster board to fashion a scoreboard. If space is limited, you can also suspend the poster board from a tree if outside, or the ceiling if indoors.Warm-UpBefore starting any of the activities, have an adult (or older child) assume the role of coach, taking the kids through warm-up and stretches, and then giving them their pre-game pep talk.ALL STARS IntroductionHave each child crash through a pre-made paper sign. This will make them feel just like the stars in the big leagues. Signs can be easily made by using a type of thin (crepe) paper. You can cut the paper into 6? sections prior to the party. With poster paint, you can write each child's name and number in large block print. Note: If you are not using easy to tear paper, you should perforate the center of the paper with a small nail or utility knife so that it is easier for the children to crash through.Make sure to have a microphone connected to a stereo or computer and an available adult to be the sports commentator who announces the children's names, and try to supply each child with the same amount of airtime.Tongue TiedThis is one of the coolest birthday party ideas. Give each player a bag or stadium cup with 10 small treasures tucked inside. These treasures can be anything – candy, chocolates, little party favors, etc.Remember to label each bag with players' names so as not to mix them up.At the beginning of the game, tell the players when the event will be ending so that there is no confusion. The point of the game is to catch fellow players saying any one of the following words or phrases: Sports, ball, goal, score, pass, catch, or team.Of course you can use any regular sports related word. Whenever someone is caught saying a word from the list, that person must give up a treasure from his or her stash. The person with the most goodies at the end is the winner.Using Sports games for parties and events is a tried and true, sure-fire way to make your party one to remember!
