The Love of Laughter Comedy Club, an offshoot of the Toastmasters that meets twice a month in Waukesha, is offering an eight-session workshop exploring the craft of humor. The $25 course includes a binder of class material and is aimed at teaching how to add humor to speeches and even how to earn money from stand-ups.
The classes are from 6:35 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Monday nights at Herzing University, 550 S. Executive Drive, Brookfield. Enrollment is limited to the first 10 applicants. Here's the syllabus:
- July 16 – Speech Construction and Types of Humor
- July 30 – Thirteen Rules of Humor
- Aug. 6 – Rules of Speech Structure
- Aug. 20 – Polish Up Your Speech (which I'm guessing has nothing to do with Poland)
- Aug. 27 – How to Deliver a Humorous Speech
- Sept. 17 – Importance of Conclusions, Student Speeches, and Evaluations
- Oct. 1 – Where You Can Use Humorous Speeches, Final Speeches and Evaluations
- Oct. 15 – Graduation Performance in front of Outside Audience

If you can't do the workshop, check out the Love of Laughter Comedy Club at 6: 30 p.m. on the first and third Thursday of the month at the Goodwill Center, 1400 Nike Drive, in Waukesha.
