The Loved Ones – Unknown release date

This Australian horror film, written and directed by Sean Byrne, is high on my "must see" list.  I absolutely love this trailer.  In fact, I was bringing  The Loved Ones to Columbus via Tugg for the the first ever "Monster Popcorn presents" screening.  I was super excited to present it but then Paramount put all the screenings for the movie on an indefinite hold.  I got all sadface.  Instead, I thought I would make up for it by trying to introduce everyone to the film and hope that we all get to see it sooner than later.  So here it is, Monster Popcorn presents (not exclusively) the trailer for The Loved Ones.

Fun Size – Oct. 26

Not all teen comedies appeal to me but this one in particular does because of two things, it takes place on Halloween (my favorite holiday) and it stars Jane Levy (Suburgatory).  This teen comedy also marks Josh Schwartz's feature film directorial debut.  Schwartz is mostly known for his teen-centric shows, like The O.C., and is the creator of NBC's Chuck.  I also like some of the supporting cast which includes Johnny Knoxville, Riki Lindhome, Kerri Kenney, Chelsea Handler and Ana Gasteyer.

The Pact – July 6 (Limited)

This supernatural thriller kind of snuck up on me.  I hadn't heard of it until recently when I saw the title being tossed around on Twitter from some movie journalists.  The word surrounding it seems to be pretty positive and that it makes for a pretty scary time.  That's enough for me to be interested, I'm easy when it comes to horror movies.  The Pact is written and directed by Nicholas McCarthy and stars Caity Lotz, Casper Van Dien and Agnes Bruckner (The Woods).  While this doesn't stand out to me as much as some of the upcoming horror offerings like The Awakening, Sinister and The Possession, I'm still looking forward to seeing it.

Ruby Sparks – July 25 (Limited)

This indie romantic comedy looks like it should be a good time.  I like the premise behind it and it looks pretty funny.  I'm not a huge Paul Dano fan.  I think he's fine, he's just not an actor that instantly draws me to a movie.  Zoe Kazan, who plays the titular character, wrote the screenplay.  She's also really cute so I don't think it's too far fetched that she could play a "girl of my dreams" type character (I'm not saying of my dreams, of the main character's in the movie of course).
