My class is in love with the new interactive bulletin board I’ve built for them. We call it Problem Solving Path, a neighborhood where every place contains a real life math problem. On the board, I have a poster hanging for each of the places in Problem Solving Path and on each place there is a problem. Grab these posters by clicking on Problem Solving Path at my blog, Raki’s Rad Resources and visiting each place.
In addition to the board, we have a math journal. In the math journal, the students have a place to show detailed work, explain their answers, and a quick and easy grading rubric. Grab the 3rd Grade Math Journal free at my Teacher’s Pay Teachers store.
I’ve designed the entire thing to be aligned with the the US Common Core Curriculum for Grade 3 AND the UK National Curriculum for Year 4. It’s been a great, easy center, as well as a a good option for my early finishers busy and productive. It makes problem solving into a real life problem.
