Five Tips To Pick the Perfect Halloween Costume: Part One

Creepy GraveyardIt’s that time of year again: falling leaves, cooler nights, carving of pumpkins, trick or treating, and toilet papering houses (not that any of this blog’s teen readers would do that!). While Halloween is a fun and exciting time, certain aspects of it can be stressful, like picking the perfect costume.

Well, stop worrying because we can help. Today begins our two part series offering five tips to pick the Halloween perfect costume. Not only will this advice help you look great on Halloween, but it’ll make you more popular too! Looking your best on Halloween can be a way to show others how awesome and cool you really are.

Tip One: Fit Your Personality

I’ve always been known as a fun, popular guy. So, I try to pick costumes that are fun in some way. Even if I decide to go scarier or darker, I still try to keep it lighthearted and fun too. If I tried to go truly dark, it wouldn’t really work because that’s not who I am.

So, pick a costume that fits with your personality in some way. Let your best traits shine through in your choice. If you’re quirky, be quirky. If you’re a little outrageous, then be a little outrageous. Don’t just follow the crowd, but let your personality shine through. But, if your personality is bland, then go straight to tip two.

Tip Two: Be A Little (Or A Lot) Bold

I know a young man when I taught high school who was pretty straight laced and conservative in his dress and personality. The guy rarely said much of anything. For Halloween dress up day his senior year, he came to school in a creative, funny costume. For him, it was a very bold move and everyone loved it! He became much more popular after that.

If you are known for being a follower who goes with the flow, then maybe your costume can be a way to break out of the mold and be a little more exciting. On Halloween people expect you to be creative, funny, and a little crazy. Use this as a chance to show them how awesome and fun you can be! It could actually make you more popular, like it did with my former student.

Make sure to visit us tomorrow to read the final three tips for finding (or making) the perfect Halloween costume! Don’t let this Halloween pass without a chance to become more popular!
