Banned Dexter's Laboratory Episode Resurfaces On Adult Swim ...

It might be nostalgia talking, but back when Genndy Tartakovsky’s fantastic Dexter’s Laboratory aired for the first time, it seems like it turned into a phenomenon almost overnight. From the fantastic voice acting to the hilarious humor, the style and the sly pop culture references, Dexter captivated audiences wildly varying in age. It was something you could watch with your little nieces and nephews as well as with your buddies while you downed a couple beers in the later hours.

Though the slightly subversive humor made it a truly all-ages show, there was one episode which crossed the border into terrirtory that Cartoon Network deemed unfir for small children. Though the banned ‘Rude Removal‘ is not some kind of adult parody, it’s easy to see why Ted Turner’s people could imagine this one leading to problems with the youngest among the audience, and more importantly, their parents. Fittingly, the episode has finally surfaced through Adult Swim.

In short, Dexter thinks DeeDee is too rude, builds a machine to remove her rude tendencies, and both of them land in the machine which splits them up in polite and rude counterparts. The rude ones espcape from the lab, swear to their mom, thrash the kitchen and cause all kinds of trouble for their polite halves, which would’ve probably set a disturbing example in the eyes of some parents who caught this episode along with the kdis. Though it’s not the best Dexter episode I’ve ever seen, it’s certainly another funny one and in finally getting to see the “lost” episode, receive a very pleasant reminder of why I still picture a little redheaded genius in a lab-coat instead of a psychopathic serial killer when people talk about TV’s Dexter.

1982 was when Jaap van der Doelen aka J.Monkey shot his way out his mom dukes. A mere two years later he was already battling Big Brother and The Illuminati. Whenever he has time to spare from those efforts he writes (about music, mostly), hosts a radio show and designs graphics for a living. He lives in The Netherlands where he continues to be winning.
