I thought this was a pretty good start to the season. I was a little disappointed that we didn't get more Deeks scenes (come on, the whole episode should be about Deeks, am I right?) but what we did get was really good! I loved the scenes between him and Sam, especially the one at the hospital when Sam told him he'd make a good agent one day and apologised for being wrong before and that it was his mistake. I'm really glad that Sam realised just how much of an asset Deeks actually is. Great ending scene too between the four of them. I liked Sam and G making jokes about teeth and stuff. I think deep down Deeks loved that. He's all about the funny usually and making jokes about his situation was like Sam and G's way of welcoming him to the family. Cute.
We didn't get as many scenes between Kensi and Deeks as I was hoping for but what we did get was gold. I loved how in the middle of all the hospital scenes Deeks was still a bit awkward around Kensi because he'd kissed her and, I guess, he didn't know how she was gonna react to that. I thought that was really sweet and something I didn't really consider them doing but I'm really glad they did. And that final scene between them when he told her that she was the happy thing he thought about during all the torture he went through and that the thought of her got him through it. How adorably honest was that? Shame Kensi didn't get chance to respond to it but those kinda scenes are always interrupted, aren't they?
I liked that Kensi was the one that found Deeks and I felt so bad for them when she had to ask him to stay put, just for a little while. I am wondering, though, just how long he'd been there for. They never really gave a time span but it must have been a day or so? Oh, and I also loved that Deeks told Kensi that he really hopes she never knows what it's like to go through what he did. I think Deeks is gonna have a hard time recovering from this.
I think (and hope) we're gonna see some more fall out from what happened to Deeks as the season goes on and I'm kinda looking forward to it because I think Eric Christian Olsen did a really good job in this episode and I'm looking forward to him impressing me through this season. Here's hoping.
I was a little disappointed with the non-conclusion of the Christopher Lambert storyline. I really hope we'd seen the last of his character but that final scene seemed to suggest otherwise. Why can't he just die already?
I'm not sure what the Root stuff was all about - I still can't figure her out.
