The Fourth of July has always been one of my favorite holidays. It comes smack dab in the middle of the summer, right when your emotions and your life are at the absolute finest. For us students, you’re in the middle of enjoying the “No worries” lifestyle that only comes around a couple of times a year, you’re soaking up the sun, and every night can be like the weekend. That, my friends, is my definition of perfection.
In my family, we always enjoy the Fourth in true all-American fashion. Most often, we barbeque steaks and burgers, blast the summer music, and have a ton of family and friends over to party it up poolside. Other years, we leave home early in the morning to get a good spot at the beach, spending all day body surfing, riding bikes, and tanning. We pull out all the stops in red, white, and blue, and “Party in the U.S.A” rings in my ears for the entire day.
When you really think about it, America is pretty awesome. We have so many freedoms, so many beautiful locations, immense opportunity, and such unmatched diversity. And as many problems as we may have, it’s amazing that for one day everyone can put it aside to recognize the fact that we live in one of the greatest nations on the planet. We don our patriotic colors, watch fireworks, enjoy our favorite company, and just generally celebrate life in America. Though I’m always supportive of my country, the Fourth of July makes me the most proud and happy to be an American (except maybe on election night and at the Olympics).
Now that I’ve gotten you all riled up, I sadly have to reveal to you that the Fourth of July is not coming up. It’s about 10 months away. (Buzz kill, I know). The summer ended a little while ago, and we have a long time to go until it comes up again. The weather chill is now on its way, already beginning to give us a few sneak peeks of what it has in store this year. Most people have their eyes set on football season, Halloween, jumping in leaf piles, and other autum-type things. Bummer.
But fear not! It is never the wrong time to celebrate in the name of ’Muricah! It is never the wrong time to wear red, white, and blue and embrace your inner patriot! And most importantly, it is never the wrong time to party in the U.S.A—it’s what the founding fathers would have wanted!
Legends is going to be partying it up like the Fourth of July this Friday at midnight. The Red, White, and Blue Party is sure to make you shout, and we’ll be celebrating into the wee hours of the morning. What better way to start a football weekend off right? (U.S.A! U.S.A! U.S.A!) Dress to impress and come prepared to party all-American style.
