It really burns my biscuits that people/the black community/whomever is up in arms about Julianne Hough(chick from footloose/safe haven) going in black-face for her Halloween costume. Its not like she is just walking around on a random day wit the shit on. She was portraying something popular this year in the show Orange is the new black, sheesh its a freaking funny costume and recognizable(isn’t that the point of halloween costumes). Crazy eyes……..
My issue is this, one its Halloween its all in fun, this chick was not trying to be hateful or hurtful, no malice intent whatsoever. Its a freaking joke. So u mean to tell me comedians like can make Columbine Highschool references about white kids etc and we all heeeheehaahaaa. But as soon as we are a butt of a joke its all this extra.
So we/black community can allow images of individuals who lighten their skin, change their facial features to look more racially ambiguous, get butt injections, wearing stringy white/straight hair, act a fool on tv(housewives of atl, Love and hip hop, and damn near any “reality” show that has a black women on it is guranteed to be a bunch of females acting a damn fool for ratings. Maury, jerry springer, i could go on, but that shits not offensive in the bit, b/c yall asses be watching it makin sure it gets restored for the next season and the season after that.

Fuck the actual issues that get swept under the rug, like mental health neglect, drug addiction, STD/HIV rates in our community, incest, homicide, rape, poverty, the missing fathers, jail numbers etc. But this shit, this minute freakin issue of this chic wearing black face is the issue we are jumping on.
Grrrrr to the tenth power, its just easy to be mad about a joke, and more difficult to tackle the real issues. That is what pisses me off, not that we are taking a stand against Halloween costumes, but we aint taking a stand against the issues I mentioned. To say this and not come off as an uncle tom would probably be impossible to the masses. And u know what I watch them shows(mostly cuz the hair and make up be on point *two snaps) but for the drama as well. But I am also not offended by a damn Halloween costume.
It just bothers me that we have become so PC that a halloween costume becomes offensive, yet Nicki Minaj and Beyonce can walk around in white face all day everyday and thats not an issue, that u don’t find the least bit offensive. Me I feel like live your life how u want, fuck it, but if ur going to be salty about one, then please be offended by the shit that is actually offensive to ur race which is a black women choosing to permanently change her skin complexion/facial features/hairstyle to appear more white.
