Top 5 non-scary movies for Halloween | LocateTV Blog

As part of LocateTV's Halloween week, I've taken it upon myself to round up my top 5 not-so-scary films (although I must admit a couple do freak me out!)

If you've seen my Shortlist, you'll know that I'm definitely not one for scary movies. I just don't like being scared or seeing graphic scenes of violence; I know, crazy right?!

So, if you're like me and don't want to scare yourself silly this Halloween, watch one of these instead!

To start off, we've got my number one film to watch at Halloween, and to be honest, any time of the year. And it's Hocus Pocus. Winifred, Mary and Sarah Sanderson are resurrected 300 years after (rightly) being hanged for witchcraft. Bette Midler is fantastic in her role as the eldest sister Winifred, and whilst you might be a little bit scared of Billy, you know you'll get to sleep without any trouble after watching it!

My number two film to watch is Casper. Maybe because I had a crush on Devon Sawa and longed for the film to get to the ending so he could appear on screen, or maybe because I thought Stretch, Stinkie and Fatso were hilarious! Hey, I was 10 when it came out ;)

At number three is one that freaks me out quite a bit;

The Witches. This is Roald Dahl's tale of The Grand High Witch, played brilliantly by Anjelica Huston, as she plans to turn all the children in England into mice. When the witches are transformed to mice-like creatures at the end, I'm still freaked out by how they look!

Number four combines two-in-one, the classic spooky films; The Addams Family and Addams Family Values. They're creepy and they're kooky, mysterious and spooky, they're all together ooky... and so on!

Brilliant casting, funny through-out and a theme tune that'll stay stuck in your head for days!

And the last item on my top 5 is Beetlejuice. This is the other film on my list that freaks me out a bit (the tiny head on the normal-sized body!), but mainly makes me laugh and sing along to Day-O!

If I haven't convinced you to steer clear of the scary films this 31st October, the remake of classic horror Carrie is out in cinemas. But if you do fancy catching one of these, check below to see if they're airing in your area. Happy Halloween!
