Seriously, could Jennifer Lawrence be any more awesome?
She’s already our official girl crush of 2013, but it’s her latest interview that has us giving her a standing ovation.
The Hunger Games actress has always been outspoken about the media’s criticism of women’s weight, but she made a bold statement in a recently-released preview for Barbara Walters’ Most Fascinating People television special.
“I think when it comes to media, the media needs to take responsibility for the effect it has on our younger generation, on these girls that are watching these television shows and picking up how to talk and how to be cool,” she argued.
“So all of the sudden being funny is making fun of the girl that’s wearing an ugly dress,” she continued. “And the word fat! I just think it should be illegal to call somebody fat on TV. I mean, if we’re regulating cigarettes and sex and cuss words because of the effect it has on our younger generation, why aren’t we regulating things like calling people fat?”
Amen, sister. AMEN! Check out a clip of the interview below:
Barbara Walters: The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2013 airs tonight at 9:30pm PT on ABC.
