The Doll People

By: Ann M. Martin

The Doll People is a realistic fiction book that’s backround is very simple. The Doll Family is a china doll family made up of Papa Doll, Mama Doll, Uncle Doll, Auntie Sarah (has been lost for 45 years), Nanny, Annabelle, Bobby and Baby Betsy. They live in the Palmer’s house and during the day they play around and when the Palmers are asleep they play around. They Doll Family belongs to Kate Palmer. Kate has a sister (Nora), a mom, a dad and a grandma (Grandma Katherine). They also own a cat, The Captain. There was something called Doll State that meant that if a doll was caught moving by a person or if a person thought that the doll was moving the doll would go 24 hours not moving as a punishment. One day when Uncle Doll, Bobby and Annabelle were going to try to find Auntie Sarah for the first time they found a plastic doll family called the Funcrafts. They consisted of Mom, Dad, Tiffany, Bailey and Baby Brittany. They were the Doll’s new neighbor’s.

The story takes place in the Palmer’s home, the Doll’s home and the attic of the Palmer’s home. I like that Annabelle had clues from Auntie Sarah’s journal and that Uncle Doll thought that she was in the attic so he wrote that she had a great journey going to the attic and finding all these spiders. He made Annabelle think. I did not dislike anything.

My favorite character was Tiffany because she persevered and dealt with the circumstances. She was also nice, kind, funny and wise.

The main character was Annabelle and she changed because in the beginning she was a little scared of going to look for Auntie Sarah but i the end she wasn’t scared of anything.

I would recommend this book to a friend because it keeps you reading throughout the whole book. I would give this book a ⅗.
