The Crumple and Shrug | Back Inside

The reason my child is crying? Because she latched onto Seth’s nose like it was a nipple, and he laughed at her. She pulled back, and there was that moment of silence in which the face crumpled, the shoulders shrugged, and the hands pulled up into a position at once helpless and protective. And then, she cried. It was her “sad and squeaky with a helping of tears” cry, and I should probably feel a little bad for thinking it was funny. But out of the catalog of her crying styles, I am most empathetic to this one – it just begs for a cuddle.
