NOW I realise that there are countries in turmoil, and that it is still not legal for my best friend to marry the man of his dreams in Australia, which I truly find unjust to my core. But I will admit, sometimes my biggest struggle in life is my own face. I just want it to look like little cherubs have carved my features perfectly into a sheet of the finest silk to ever grace the earth, you know? It’s alright; you don’t have to confess to sharing my shallow, first-world dilemma. I’ll just leave my tips for faking a god-like complexion here, and you can pretend to ignore them.
First and foremost, you must invest in the original Beauty Blender. I don’t care if you are funny about sponges, or don’t really feel like forking out $25 for an egg shaped bit of Hydrophilic Polyurethane. You need this in your life. It melts any foundation flawlessly into your skin, making it a breeze to build on areas where more coverage is needed. Use it damp, dot your foundation of choice on the cheeks, forehead, and chin, and pounce the magic little egg all over to blend.

As for foundation of choice, Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation comes in handy when wanting to achieve luminous, silk-like skin. It is lightweight, hydrating, and offers medium, buildable coverage. It’s like heaven in a bottle. Foundation isn’t designed to cover everything though (as discussed my Makeup Lies article), and because gods don’t have bags, redness around their nose, or blemishes, you may need to go in with a concealer. My favourite for flawless skin is the Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Concealer. It provides long-lasting, full coverage and does not crease. Use only a little and pounce in with the Beauty Blender that is now your everything.
Now you can set your radiant face with a finishing powder to extend the longevity of your makeup. My holy grail is the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Ethereal Light. These powders imitate the appearance of different flattering lightings, softening features and blurring imperfections. I like to apply a light dusting with my Sigma F25 Tapered Face brush. While you could stop here and still have heads turning, true god-like luminescence can’t be achieved without a little highlighter, so I like to reach for my Laura Mercier Shimmer Bloc in Peach Mosaic. You only need the tiniest swipe of this, and it looks like your cheekbones have been kissed by rose-gold makeup fairies.
Voilà! You now have a complexion fit for a meeting with Aphrodite. Pair with confidence and wit; people will expect big things from you.
