We all laughed when a cop handcuffed JAKE OWEN . . . but did NOT arrest him . . . outside a Steak 'n Shake on Cinco de Mayo.  It was funny because he looked silly in those board shorts and cuffs . . . and because nothing serious went down.

As you may recall, Jake got married two days later and decided to focus on that instead of telling us exactly what happened that night.   Jake spoke with Lisa & Ray on Chicago's US-99 and this is what happened:

Jake said, quote, "I was with my mom, my dad, my sister, my brother-in-law, all my nieces and nephews.  We were just at a show.  We all rode my tour bus (and) walked off into the Steak 'n Shake.

"I looked at my driver and said, 'Hey, watch this.  I have this old man mask.  It's pretty funny . . . [at least] I thought it was funny.  But unbeknownst to me, I didn't know there's a law you're not allowed to go into a public establishment with a mask on."

It was suggested that someone in the restaurant probably thought he was about to rob the place.  Jake kind of agreed, but added, quote, "Okay, I could understand that if I got out of a getaway van.  But I got out of a tour bus.

"People made a big deal out of it.  But it's a Steak 'n Shake.  At midnight."

(Here's the Florida law that got Jake in trouble:  Section 876.13 prohibits people from wearing masks and head coverings that "conceal your identity" while on public property.)

****Well…I guess I learned something new this morning…now my Halloween plans have been destroyed. Arg!!!!****
