Fun Friday–Where do you find your happy? How do you take back ...

This post was inspired by social media and the stuff that sometimes clings to you via social media when you least suspect it.

Back in the day, I used to work in an office–a relatively small office. What this meant was that everyone was always up into everyone else’s business, and there was always one or two people who lived to cause trouble or pot stir, spread rumors or generally dump negative vibes onto everyone who walked through the door. I kid you not, during the last two years in that particular office, I got real skilled into coming into the office through the back door and accessing the upper floor by way of the back stairway just to avoid certain people and their cloud of doom personality.

Oh, don’t get me wrong, there’s still a lot of that out there on the highways of social media where you’re instantly connected to everyone 24/7, and of course, folks are going to have bad days every now and again. Everyone does. I’m certainly no exception. We’re all human and we want someone to listen and understand. There’s nothing wrong with that–unless it becomes a habit day in and day out.

But, let’s say you have hundreds of friends across all platforms of social media, and at any given time when you decide to pop in and check out the statuses of your friends, colleagues and acquaintances, everyone seems to have a bee in their bonnet at the same time.

Yikes, right? It can be overwhelming and the constant blah, blah, blah can really do a number on your good mood and intentions. The great thing about social media over an office job is you can just turn it off. Log out. Shut the Internet browser and those people and their issues go away. In an office, you’re stuck with it.

So, how do you find your happy? What brings you back to center and makes you refreshed and re-energized to take on another round of social media roulette?

Here are a few of mine:

The movie Elf. Yes, I know it’s no longer Christmastime, but I can’t help it. Will Ferrell’s role in this movie makes me laugh every single time.

Lemons. The other day I bought a big bag of lemons at the grocery. One, because they were on sale. Two, because I needed lemons. And three, because lemons make me happy.

I mean, come on! How can you not help but smile at a big old bowl full of lemons and their cheery yellow color? Still not convinced? Slice one of them open and just inhale the sunshine. Nature’s happiness.

Of course, I wouldn’t be me if I didn’t say part of what gets me back to happy is Disney World. It’s an immediate smile producer for me.

Seriously, how can you not smile when Tigger’s around?

If all of that fails, and I have to dig deep, I text my husband or put a dorky post on Facebook and mention him. Guaranteed to make him comment, text me a funny saying back or give me a call.

The guy is my go-to funny man.

Or, barring all that, there’s this (and there’s only one other person out there who’ll get why this is funny to me) but that’s okay because she can make me laugh when no one else can. Close friends are awesome:

So, now it’s your turn. What makes you smile? Where do you find your happy? Oh, and guess what? It’s Friday! You can’t help but smile now, can you?
