Insane Mamacita's Musings: Anniversaries and Roast Pigs

This past weekend we were invited to my aunt and uncle's 40th wedding anniversary.

My dad's other brother and sister along with their spouses came in for the special occasion.

I was so excited to see my cousin's, their kids, and of course all of my aunts and uncles. Plus, the numerous friends and other guests that were invited.

How many people can boast that they made to 40 years of marriage?

Not many these days!

As an aside, I would like to add that my dad and step-mom celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary last week as well! I am so happy for them!

The 40th wedding anniversary was a perfect evening. Full of laughter, hugs, chatting, reminiscing, and fun.

One interesting part of the celebration was that they were roasting a pig. An entire pig. For supper.

I happened to be there as my cousin's very brave husband's took the pig out of the cooker.

Someone next to me said it would be funny to show the kids at the party the pig.

So, excitedly I ran to grab my kids. I thought this would be a great learning opportunity for them. They could see where food actually comes from.

I found them playing by the lake (with adult supervision of course) and told them I had something neat to show them.

Now remember, my oldest Big Boy is 7 years old and my youngest Little Man is 3.

I brought them into the garage before the pig was sliced and diced. Both boys stood there in wonder and shock. Little Man immediately took off immediately after I told him he was looking at a pig.

Big Boy asked disgustedly, "so, we are eating THAT pig tonight?"

"Yes," I replied.

"Well, I am not eating it," he responded.

So I said to him, "well, you love bacon and ham don't you?"

He promptly exited the garage saying, "not anymore!"

I traumatized my boys.

I have ruined ham and bacon for them for life.

Oh well. More for me!
