It’s alive. It’s not alive — Monsterland’s plans to claw its way back from the grave are now toast.

According to Jess Harter’s Mouth By Southwest, owner Kevin Wynn has decided to accept an offer to sell the building to a party who will keep the castle theme but convert the business into a “corporate and wedding venue” without the props and animatronic figures that make it … Monsterland. An open house sale for the macabre items will be held 4 to 8 p.m. July 10.

Last month, Wynn had announced that the former horror movie museum and themed eatery/night club would reopen on a limited basis in August as a special event venue in partnership with Pop Culture Classics owner Marco Regalado. It had closed in January after experimenting with a haunted house/museum format before becoming a popular but short-lived bar and grill.

The announcement came Wednesday night on Monsterland’s Facebook page:

Monsterland lover’s…….. I have some very sad news……..with a tremendous amount of consideration and soul searching I have decided to accept an offer for the building. Unfortunately the new business will be changing to a Corporate and Wedding Venue. It will keep a Castle theme, but, I will be selling the props and animatronics. If any of you want to add to your Halloween Collection the most awsome masks, props or animatronics for your Home Haunt. Or just find a souvenir we will have an open house next Wednesday, July 10th from 4pm to 8pm to sell our inventory.

Thanks for your Support. Sorry I couldn’t make this work as a profitable business
