A few days ago, my APC Back-UPS RS 1500 LCD reported a battery failure. It was 5 years old, so I ordered a replacement battery. The replacement battery arrived yesterday. That turned out to be perfect timing, since this morning, the power went out for about 2 hours. It started at around 7AM, and lasted until just past 9AM.
Apparently, despite being a totally bright sunny day with no wind at all, a tree fell on the power lines. There’s only a small section of overhead power lines near here, the rest is all buried underground. I suppose it could have something to do with the infestation of Emerald Ash borers we have this year. Many Ash trees are dead, including one in my very own backyard. After those bugs are done with the trees, they leave them looking very much like those made for Halloween. It’s a bit funny that the date is the 13th today, it seems fitting.
