Performance Network Theatre to Perform "Driving Miss Daisy"

Performance Network Theatre is returning to Ann Arbor with "Driving Miss Daisy". I remember enjoying the movie, Driving with Miss Daisy when it was released (I was 15 at the time). I do recommend the play for older children (tweens and teens). At 9, I probably won't take my daughter yet. However, it would make a good date night activity for Ann Arbor parents.

Detroit sports and entertainment executive Tom Wilson partners as co-producer for Performance Network Theatre's “Driving Miss Daisy”

ANN ARBOR, MI (September 8, 2014) The popular “Driving Miss Daisy,” directed by 2014 Pulsar Award winner for Best Director and three time 2014 Wilde Award nominee John Manfredi, will begin its run at Performance Network Theatre on September 25, 2014. Co-producing the production and lending a hand in Performance Network’s revitalization is longtime Detroit sports and entertainment executive, Tom Wilson.

“We are overjoyed to have Tom on board. His support is helping make the Network's reopening possible,” Manfredi commented. “Tom and I have had a good business relationship for over a decade. He has always been a big supporter of mine and a good friend to the artistic community in Michigan.”

Wilson and Manfredi worked together previously on several productions such as “Golf: The Musical” and “The Rocky Horror Show.”

The project also reunites Manfredi and actor James Bowen last seen together at the Network in the critically acclaimed “K2”. Tickets are on sale now at www.pntheatre.org and by calling the box office at 734-663-0681.

“We’re very excited to have this warm, touching, and funny play in Ann Arbor,” said Company Manager Sara Dean. “There is a lot of excitement about bringing such a successful show in at the start of our season.”

Manfredi and Bowen teamed up on an earlier version of “Daisy” almost a decade ago and garnered awards for Best Play, Best Actor, Best Director and the show was named one of the year’s top ten by the Detroit Free Press.

Written by Alfred Uhry, “Driving Miss Daisy” is set in 1948 when the son of an elderly Southern matron hires a chauffeur for his mother. Over the next 25 years, the relationship between the matron and the chauffeur blossoms into one of respect and friendship as the civil-rights movement brings changes to the old South. With audience favorites Bryan Lark as Boolie and Nancy Kammer, a multiple Wilde Award Nominee, in the title role, “Driving Miss Daisy” is sure to be a great start to the new PNT season.

Performances of “Driving Miss Daisy” take place Thursday through Sunday beginning September 25 through October 26, 2014. For information on donating to PNT, or to purchase tickets, please visit www.pntheatre.org or call the box office at 734-663-0681. Performance Network Theatre is located at 120 E. Huron St, Ann Arbor, MI, 48104.
