FUNNY bloke section here today, ladies and gents. With the upcoming release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles here in Australia on September 11, I thought we’d take a looksie at one of the films stars, Will Arnett.
Arnett has a long history as an actor, in particular his role in comedy shows and films. I thought that opportunity is a nice excuse to reminisce on some of my favourite moments in Arnett’s career.
The Basics
Name: William Emerson Arnett
DOB: 4 May 1970 (age 44), in Toronto, Canada
Years active: 1996 – present
Career
30 Rock (2006-2013)
Arnett guest-starred in seasons 1 and 2 of 30 Rock, in what would go on to become one of his career-defining roles, where he played a scheming network executive.
Arrested Development (2003-2013)
Arnett found mainstream success in television when he starred in this Fox comedy series. The show has since earned a cult following. In 2006, he was nominated for an Emmy for his portrayal of George Oscar “Gob” Bluth II.
Blades of Glory (2007)
Another of Arnett’s hilarious roles, Blades of Glory follows the story of two rival male ice skaters, Will Ferrell and Jon Heder, who work together as a pairs team to compete in the Olympics. The film was number one at the U.S. box office during the first two weeks. The role sees Arnett working with his former wife, Amy Poehler.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014)
Starring alongside Megan Fox, Arnett plays a cameraman in this reboot of the iconic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise. He was cast in the role in April 2013. The film made $65 million on opening weekend in the U.S. and retained the #1 spot for two weeks.
