4cr Plays – The Quiet Collection | 4 color rebellion

Nostatic Software is an indie developer with several games under his belt. You might know some of them from when PlayStation Mobile was a thing (the service was unfortunately shutdown and has suffered a harsh death), but if you missed them then you’re in luck because Nostatic Software has decided to bundle four of its adventure games into The Quiet Collection.

The collection gets its name from two of the games included in the bundle. The four games you get with your $4.99 purchase are Quiet, Please!, Quiet Christmas, Vacation Vexation, and Candy, Please! If you’re a fan of adventure games of ages past, then you’ll feel right at home with the games in The Quiet Collection.

The first game in the bundle is Quiet, Please! After a bad day at school, you arrive home and just want to get some peace and quiet, but everyone and everything in your house is making too much noise! Your father is watching TV, your mother is busy shouting on the phone, your little brother is jumping all over the place and refuses to go to sleep, and there’s a bunch of cats that refuse to shut up!

You must, therefore, find a way to make everyone go quiet so that you can go to bed and forget about today. This means finding a way for your little brother to remain still in his room so that he can finally go to sleep, distract mom with something that will get her off the phone, and find a way to turn off the TV because every time you push the power button on the TV your dad just turns it on again with the remote. What will you do?

The second game is Quiet Christmas, and it continues with the same theme from Quiet, Please! This time around, you’re desperately trying to go to sleep so that you can speed things up and finally wake up to enjoy Christmas morning and all the gifts.

The problem, as expected, comes from how there’s a lot of stuff just plain wrong around the house. The house is too cold to go to sleep, your brother once again refuses to just got to bed and stay still, and there are other stuff that needs to be taken care before you can finally get some much-needed rest. Quiet, Please and Quiet Christmas have something in common other than using the same setting, since there is no way to save your progress, and you must finish each game in one go. This isn’t a problem since each game will take you 15-20 minutes at most to complete, but it is something you should consider before you start to play either game.

Once you’ve taken care of the first two games in the collection (or if you’re feeling adventurous and want to dive into a longer game without first learning what makes each game tick), you can try your hand at Vacation Vexation. This time around the whole family goes out on a lovely vacation to the sea (new location!), and it all seems to be going oh so well until you realize there’s a lot of stuff that just ain’t right.

Quiet Collection - Vacation Vexation

Since you’re very curious and hate to not have things go perfectly as planned, you set out on a new quest to make sure everyone else knows you’re the queen of the beach… or something. Why can’t they just let you be at peace as you soak in the sun? Vacation Vexation uses the same trial and error system we love from adventure games. Unlike the two Quiet games in the collection, Vacation Vexation includes a lot more puzzles and items to handle, which is why you’ll be playing for twice as long, and you might end up taking 40-60 minutes or so finishing the game. Good thing you can save your progress!

The final game in the collection is Candy, Please! As you can see from the screen below, the theme this time around is Halloween, and you want to dress up and get as many candy piece as possible! You have a goal in mind and will stop at nothing until you have reached it, and this means you’ll have to solve several puzzles before you can make your wish come true!

Quiet Collection - Candy Please

First up on your quest for the ultimate candy haul is finding the materials you need to make your costume, so off you go in search of the perfect items for the best costume ever that will allow you to knock on all doors and get all the most candy ever. But will one costume be enough for this huge ordeal? You’ll soon find out! As was the case for Vacation Vexation, you’ll be able to save your progress, and it will take you another 40-60 minutes to complete your adventure.

I had a lot of fun with The Quiet Collection. Four games for the price of one is a great incentive, and overall you’re looking at around 2-3 hours of gaming total depending on how good you are at adventure games. The art style is charming, and the writing is funny, which is always great for an adventure game.
